As per the decision taken at the PSL Franchise Stakeholder Meeting held in Lahore last month, eight local players were added to the squads earlier today. The pool of available players included unselected players from the HBL PSL Draft, players brought in through scouting and talent hunt campaigns, and players who took part in the National T20 Cup held in Rawalpindi last month.

Lahore Qalandars have opted for Salman Irshad who was discovered in the talent hunt and Imran Khan Jr. who will be part of the Silver category of players. Karachi Kings have taken Mohammad Taha who will be in the Emerging category along with Mushtaq Ahmed Kalhoro who was discovered in a talent hunt campaign.

Islamabad United have added a solitary player, Rohail Nazir in the Emerging category. Quetta Gladiators too have gone in with just one player, Mohammad Junaid who paved his way through the Talent Hunt. Khushdil Shah will be among the Emerging players for the Peshawar Zalmi. There is Shan Masood for the Multan Sultans in the Silver category, reported PCB.

When will the league start?

The third edition of PSL will commence on February 22 and continue till March 25 and will feature six teams, with the Multan Sultans making their debut. Similar to 2016 and 2017 seasons, most of the matches of 2018 season will be played in UAE. However, some matches are planned to take place in Pakistan; they will be played in Lahore and Karachi, subject to security clearance. If all goes as planned, Lahore could witness the eliminators while the final would be played in Karachi.
