The highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan that was played at the Edgbaston Cricket Stadium on Sunday, was anything but interesting. It didn’t live up to the expectations of a high-voltage encounter, for Pakistan team completely surrendered from the very beginning of the game and India were the favorites. India beat Pakistan by 124 runs in what looked like a light-hearted fight from the rivals.

This brought the men in green under heavy criticism from not just fans but also the media back home. Media channels across the border are currently scrutinizing their cricket team for not showing any fighting spirit against India, and frustration is visible on social media too. According to a few news channels, it has now become a norm for the team to lose even the smallest of the games.

In fact, many media channels are requesting the team to stop playing cricket and sit at home, because as per them, they are good for nothing. Below is a video of a news channel, where news presenters are seen criticizing their own cricketers.

Apart from the media, former Pakistani and Indian cricketers also criticized the team. While India’s Harbhajan Singh said that the match felt like a practice match, Pakistan’s Imran Khan opined that Pakistan could have at least put up a fight and not surrender the way they did.

Somewhere along the lines, India-Pakistan games are slowly losing their charm. The team that once boasted of forces like Javed Miandad, Waqar Younis and even Shahid Afridi, have no such players to boast of anymore. The Indian team in comparison to their counterparts is very strong which is why they’ve won nearly all of their last matches. It will be tough for Pakistan to recover from the loss as their net run rate has received a hammering.
