Semi-final 2 of the T20 World Cup 2021 would see Pakistan taking on Australia at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday (November 11). Both sides have been phenomenal in this competition so far and it would be interesting to see how this game pans out. Having won their all five games in the league stage, Pakistan would be high on confidence and would like to extend their winning streak. On the other hand, Australia’s campaign had a hiccup in form of an eight-wicket defeat against arch-rivals England. Besides this, however, the Aussies won their remaining games.

Head to Head record:

Pakistan dominate Australia in terms of head-to-head record in T20Is. These two teams have played 23 T20I matches so far. Out of which 13 have been won by the Men in Green while the Aussies have won seven games. One of their clashes got washed out due to rain. As far as T20 World Cups are concerned, these two teams have five times and the head-to-head record stands 3-3.

Top Performers:

Veteran Australian opener David Warner boasts of an exceptional record against the Pakistan side. He has scored the most runs (348) in the clashes. Among active cricketers, the veteran is followed by Umar Akmal (335) and Aaron Finch (326). The bowling chart is topped by Mohammad Amir. He has picked up the most wickets (17). The left-arm speedster is followed by Mitchell Starc (13), and Andrew Tye (10).

Last T20 World Cup meeting:

As mentioned above, these two sides met four times in T20 World Cups. The last of those meetings occurred in the 2016 edition. Australia had won the toss in Mohali and elected to bat on a decent-looking wicket. While skipper Steve Smith scored a fiery half-century, Glenn Maxwell and Shane Watson chipped in with handy cameos. As a result, the Aussies posted 193/4.

Chasing the challenging target, Pakistan looked in the hunt for the best part as the likes of Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Umar Akmal, and Shoaib Malik played handy cameos. However, James Faulkner dented their plans with a five-fer as the Shahid Afridi-led side was restricted to 172/8, losing the contest by 21 runs.
