New Zealand will kick-start their ICC T20 World Cup 2021 campaign against a highly confident Pakistan side. The encounter takes place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on October 26. Having defeated arch-rivals India by 10 wickets in their opening fixture, Pakistan would be high on confidence and they would be determined to extend their sensational run against the Kiwis as well. Speaking of the Kane Williamson-led side, they lost to Australia and England in the warm-up fixtures. Hence, they have some issues to address. However, one shouldn’t ignore their knack of shining in ICC events.

Head to Head record:

Pakistan dominate New Zealand in terms of overall head-to-head record in T20Is. These two teams have played 24 T20I matches so far. Out of which 14 have been won by the Pakistan side and the Kiwis have won the other 10 games. As far as T20 World Cups are concerned, these two teams have met five times and the head-to-head record is 3-2 in Pakistan’s favour.

Last T20 World Cup meeting:

As mentioned above, these two sides have met five times in T20 World Cups. The last of those meetings was recorded in the 2016 edition. New Zealand won the all-important toss and elected to bowl in Mohali. While opener Martin Guptill scored 80, Ross Taylor played a handy cameo as the Kiwis posted 180/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing the challenging target, Pakistan got off to a stellar start with openers Sharjeel Khan and Ahmed Shehzad adding 65 runs in no time. However, the middle-order couldn’t come to the party as the Kiwis bounced back. Pakistan eventually won the contest by 22 runs.
