The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sent a legal notice to the Board of Control for Cricket in India for not honouring the Memorandum of Understanding between the two boards. According to the agreement, India was supposed to play six bilateral series in between the span of 2014 and 2023 in return for their support for the Big Three Revenue Model.

But the BCCI refused to feature in the bilateral series scheduled to be played in November 2014 and December 2015 amidst the growing political tensions between the two nation. As a result, PCB sent a legal notice to the BCCI on 3rd of May as they demand a compensation of about450 crores for the losses incurred by the board.

According to the PCB officials, Pakistan has incurred a loss of approximately USD 695,76,405 since the team refused to feature in the bilateral series in November 2014 and December 2015. The Pakistan Cricket Board is expecting a reply before the 10th of May.

In the recent ICC meeting held in Dubai, the PCB unofficially threatened the Indian Board that they would pursue legal action against them to claim the compensation.

Headaches for BCCI has only increased with this move as they are currently locking horns with the International Cricket Council for the reinstatement of the ‘Big Three Model’. The BCCI was outvoted for the initiation of new proposed model by the ICC as all the boards were in favour of the model which states that global revenues must be shared amongst all the boards.

The BCCI has remained adamant about the continuation of the previous revenue model as the new model slashes India’s share by almost 50%. BCCI claimed that with this move, the entire system would suffer right till the grass-root levels. BCCI had also threatened to pull out of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy in England to protest against the change in revenue shares. But after the recent SGM, the Indian board announced that the team will participate in the ICC event.
