Rahul Tripathi, who took the 10th edition of the IPL by storm, is continuing his good form even after the tournament. Rahul Tripathi looked in a destructive mood on Saturday as he registered a 187 run inning of just 192 balls which rode his team India Pistons to 297 for 7 on the opening day.
It was the match in the second round of the TNCA second division league at CPT-IP grounds where India Pistons locked horns with Nelson SC. Rahul was supported by C. Ganapathy who scored 39 runs but stayed glued to the crease for a long time. Due to rainfall, the day’s play was reduced to 75 overs. Shahbaz Nadeem was the center of attraction with the ball for Nelson SC as he picked up 3 wickets giving away 98 runs.
Tripathi in the IPL:
Rahul Tripathi turned out to be an asset for his team The Rising Pune Supergiant in the iconic 10th edition of the IPL. Rahul played a significant part in carrying his team to the final of the tournament where they lost to the Mumbai Indians. The right handed batsman faired decently in the final as he played a crucial knock of 45 runs but unfortunately could not take his team home.
Tripathi’s 93 run knock against the Kolkata Knight Riders was one the highlights of the tournament and Rahul emerged to be one of the finds of the season. The batsman hails from a army background and is renowned for hitting 6 sixes in an over twice in local cricket.
If Tripathi continues to play with such quality, an India call-up for the youngster is not far away. Players like Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya have already got their call while Rahul Tripathi is still waiting for it. With some of the senior players falling victim to age we might see some of the finds of the IPL donning the Indian jersey soon.
