Ranji Trophy 2019-20: Round 8, Day 2- Round-up

The second day in the eighth round of Ranji Trophy 2019-20 culminated a few teams registering the victory on the second day itself. After decimating Uttarakhand in both the innings, Services cruised to an easy 10-wicket victory.

Servies bowling force, led by Diwesh Pathania and Raushan Raj wreaked havoc on the Uttarkhand batting force in both the innings. Raj was also adjudged Man of the Match for scalping seven wickets in the match. Post this win, Servies are currently poised third in the Group C points table by gathering 33 points in eight matches.

Similarly, Puducherry also cruised to a dominant victory against Manipur by thrashing the latter’s batting force in both the innings. After gathering a massive total of 490 runs, Puducherry’s bowling attack bowled out Manipur for a mere total of 111 in the second innings. Alagh Prathiban’s five-wicket haul ensured that Puducherry register the victory by an innings and 241 runs.

Haryana also registered a seven-wicket victory after curbing Assam to a total of 197 runs in their second innings. Skipper Harshal Patel picked up four wickets to guide Haryana to the triumph. He was assisted by Ajit Chahal and Ashish Hooda, who scalped two wickets each. In the encounter between Saurashtra and Mumbai, Sheldon Jackson registered a gritty half-century to stabilize Saurashtra’s innings. He was assisted by skipper Arpit Vasavada’s 77-ball 46.

Punjab also raced to the victory after Andhra collapsed on a total of 134 runs in the second innings. Vinay Choudhary wreaked havoc by scalping six wickets along with Mayank Markande, who picked four.
