It’s not even a year when Rassie van der Dussen made his debut for South Africa. But in such a short while, he has developed himself into a reliable figure in the Proteas setup. The Pretoria-born has an ODI average of 73.77 in 18 matches, numbers which somewhat depict the talent he possesses. In T20Is, he plays at a strike-rate of over 130, showing his power-hitting capabilities.

South Africa had a disastrous campaign in the World Cup, but Rassie showed his class and calibre. He is 30 years old, but is definitely in the Proteas’ scheme of things as far as the future is concerned. Recently, Van der Dussen named the three best T20I batsman in the world and he named Indian skipper Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rohit Sharma, the Indian vice-captain.

We have to nullify this kind of players

“They are probably three of the best T20 batters the world has ever seen. Virat and Rohit are the two leading run-scorers at the moment in international T20 cricket,” Van der Dussen was quoted as saying in NDTV Sports. Van der Dussen was a part of the three-match T20I series in India.

He admitted that getting them out is important in order to dominate. “It’s a great challenge for young bowlers coming here and bowling to these guys. But like I said, we know what the challenge is. If we want to get a win, we have to nullify this kind of players,” the batsman added.

Rohit and Virat are two of the leading run-scorers in the T20 format. Over the last few months, a number of times it has happened that they have outscored each other to the top. Rohit has as many as four T20I centuries even as the Delhi-born Virat has an average of above 50. In the first T20I at the PCA Stadium in Mohali, he scored an unbeaten 72 and helped his team win.

Dhawan, on the other hand, doesn’t have meek numbers by any stretch of the imagination. The southpaw averages in the high 20s and has a strike-rate of around 130. India are scheduled to play the T20 World Cup in Australia and their fate will depend on how the trio delivers.
