Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has been around for a long time when it comes to being associated with the game. He has served the roles of a player, an administrator, a commentator, team manager, and now the coach. The newly appointed Indian coach is all set to make his side the best in the world. As per the recent quotes in the Mumbai Mirror, Ravi Shastri expressed his plans to attain the same.

In a media interaction, he was asked if he felt some change in the dressing room atmosphere. The phase that preceded the joining of Shastri as the coach was quite tense. The unceremonious exit of Anil Kumble from the coach’s post was expected to create ripples. However, Shastri asserted that he found no change in the team morale and the atmosphere when he joined.

“I wasn’t there for the last 12 months, so I don’t know. But when I got in, it was pretty much from where I left. I didn’t see any change — the nucleus of the team is pretty much the same. I know what to expect from them and they know what to expect from me. There is no need of reinventing the wheel or anything of that sort,” quoted Ravi Shastri.

A terse reply

One of the journalists asked Shastri about his role in the side. Ravi Shastri took no time to get back saying that his work is to lead the entire pack of players and the support staff. He wishes to see a positive and fearless brand of cricket coming to the fore.

“My role is to be in charge of the entire support staff and to make sure that we get the boys in some great mental space to go out and express themselves with nothing else on their minds but to go out and play a brand of cricket which you have seen India play over the last three years, that is positive and fearless,” said the Indian head coach.

When asked how he will be doing it, Shastri was a bit unimpressed with the question. He replied, “That is a skill. That is why I am here and you are not there,” he added further.
