Relief in the DD camp as Zaheer Khan is expected to return against RCB: Delhi Daredevils (DD) most experienced fast bowler Zaheer Khan is expected to be fully fit before their next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). However, he will not be a part of the playing XI in the game against the Mumbai Indians at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on Thursday. This news will definitely bring some relief in the DD camp as fast bowler Mohd. Shami, someone who they had lot of expectations from was earlier ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
The veteran paceman has been struggling to keep fit right from the time he joined Delhi’s training camp before the Indian Premier League. But he is believed to have recovered from the injury and will take the field against RCB on 26th April.
“We are hopeful that by the 26th game he will be fit. But it depends on the physio. Like today he did bowl in the nets, so we are very positive about it,” Amre said after Delhi’s six-wicket loss to Kolkata Knight Riders at Ferozeshah Kotla on Monday.
Zak’s return to the side would add more teeth to the bowling attack. He is yet to play a single match this season. The daredevils have been inconsistent and going through a rough patch in the tournament. According to assistant coach Pravin Amre, they are hopeful of bouncing back strongly and make it to the knockouts.
The skill, knowledge and experience of Zaheer Khan will not only add a bowler but a leader to the DD attack, which till now has lacked the intent and ammunition to dominate the opposition.
