Robin Uthappa gets married to tennis player Sheethal Goutham

The wedding season for Indian cricketers continued as Robin Uthappa and Dhawal Kulkarni tied the nuptial knot on Thursday. Uthappa got married to tennis player Sheethal Goutham while Kulkarni tied the nuptial knot with Shradha Kharpude, a fashion co-ordinator. The celebrations seem to be continuing for Kulkarni who was recently a key figure in the Ranji Trophy winning Mumbai side.

Robin and Sheethal were not really childhood buddies, as they are commonly called. Sheethal was Robin’s senior in Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College in Bengaluru, and for over five years they were best friends. Both are known to be fitness freaks and Sheethal is working with a fitness studio. Besties for over a decade, the two have never been shy of acknowledging their relationship on social media.

As a former India no 3 tennis player, who has represented the country at the Federation Cup (a premier international team competition in women’s tennis), Sheethal Goutham would follow a gruelling six-to-seven hour practice and fitness routine every day. Now, 4 years after she quit professional tennis, the 33-year-old follows a more relaxed lifestyle, working out when she wants to at her home gym on Nandidurga road.

The other thing that keeps her going is her passion for life. Whether its sports or her new career path – since she quit playing, Goutham has been dabbling in theatre (did a two-month course with Anupam Kher’s Actor Prepares in Mumbai and has even made an appearance in the popular play, The Vagina Monologues) or working as a marketing and sales executive with tennis legend Vijay Amritraj’s company Second Serve Pvt Ltd.

Irfan Pathan and Bollywood actress Juhi Chawla, who were present on the occasion, also took to twitter to congratulate Uthappa and Sheethal. In fact both were presented during the occasion.

“My brother @robbieuthappa wis u a great married life.may u always keep laughing the way u do #robinsheethal,” Pathan tweeted.

Chawla wrote: “Robin uthappa and Sheetal .. Now man and wife …!!congratulatttiioonnss …”
