Modern-day cricket legend Rohit Sharma hosted a Question and Answer session with his fans on Twitter on the account of Friendship Day on August 2 (Sunday). The limited-overs vice-captain of the Indian cricket team answered several questions thrown at him by the fans related to his personal and professional life.

During the session, a Twitter user asked Rohit about his first-ever paycheck in cricket and how he spent that amount with his friends and family. Answering the fan, the Hitman revealed that his first paycheck was not actually a paycheck instead he won 50 Rs. while playing street cricket near his society.

“My first paycheck was not a paycheck, it was cash which I won playing near my society. It was 50 rupees. It was spent by eating roadside vada pav with my friends,” Rohit replied.

The 33-year-old hails from a middle-class family and has been living in Mumbai since his birth. The right-handed top-order batsman had grown up playing crickets in the streets of the city and later started practicing in the famous Azad maidan to polish his cricketing skills.

Rohit Sharma last donned the Indian jersey during T20 series against New Zealand

The Indian batsman last braced the match field during the final and fifth T20 International against New Zealand in the month of January. He scored 60 runs off 41 deliveries but had to leave the field midway after sustaining a calf injury. Owing to his injury Rohit couldn’t participate in the ODI and Test series and had to leave the tour in the middle.

Indian cricket team had toured New Zealand earlier this year for a five-match T20 series, three-match ODI series, and two-match Test series. Though India whitewashed the Kiwis in the T20 series, it was New Zealand who outshined the Asian Giants in the ODI and Test series.

The Mumbai Stalwart will be seen in action from September 19 as he will be leading the defending champions Mumbai Indians in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020). The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to host the 2020 edition of the cash-rich league from September 19 to November 10 in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
