Social media has made it very convenient for the fans to stay in touch with their favourite cricket stars. Question Answer sessions have become common these days, with the celebrities going live and fans asking them various questions. Former India fast bowler RP Singh recently started a question-answer session with his followers on Instagram.

The app has recently launched a ‘questions’ feature on the story which has become a hit overnight. His fans asked him a variety of questions and one was to name the toughest batsman he bowled to during his playing days. Rudra Pratap Singh, who played 14 Test matches, 58 ODIs and 10 T20Is for the Indian team, and took 40 wickets, 69 and 15 wickets respectively singled out Australia’s Matthew Hayden as the toughest batsman.

Hayden was one of the finest openers in Australia’s Test cricket circuit. His explosive batting can be understood with his stats – 8,625 runs from 103 Test matches. Not just RP, but several Indian bowlers in the past have revealed that Hayden was their biggest scare while they faced the strong Australian team.

RP Singh’s career

The left-arm fast bowler played 58 ODIs for India, from which he has 69 wickets at an average of 33.95. He also featured in 10 Twenty20 Internationals from which he took 15 wickets. RP was also part of India’s World T20 Cup-winning squad in 2007 when Mahendra Singh Dhoni captained India to a historic win over Pakistan in the tournament final. He has also played in the Indian Premier League – for Deccan Chargers, Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rising Pune Supergiant.

Most recently, at the age of 30, he played a crucial role in Gujarat’s title win in the Vijay Hazare tournament 2015-16. The only downside to his international career was repeated injuries, which hampered his form and eventually he lost his place to better performers. But when at his peak, he had the ability to move the ball both ways and reverse the old ball which made him a wicket-taker across formats.
