Former Sri Lanka cricketer Russel Arnold is one of the iconic voices of the Sri Lankan cricket. He is also one of the most active former cricketers on the social media. Time and again, he comes up with his reviews and updates on the ongoing trends in the cricket world. He did exactly that in his recent social media update. However, he ended up getting trolled for the reason that people believed his tweet had no base at all.

Russel Arnold came up with a tweet that seemed to have taken a holy dip in optimism. He remarked that the Sri Lankan team could finish the year of 2017 as the top ranked Test team in the world. They are currently playing Zimbabwe in the one off Test match at Colombo. Zimbabwe had beaten them in the ODI series of the tour.

A week later, they are scheduled to play the Indian team in a 3-match Test series. Also, the Sri Lankan side will be seen locking horns with Pakistan later this year. There is certainly no harm in being optimistic about the chances of Sri Lanka escalating to the highest rank. However, the kind of form that they have been in, only makes the claims look very meek.

“SL could B number 1 in tests by end 2017..If they beat ZIM and get 3-0 vs India next month they will be up to 3..tests vs PAK and Ind follow,” tweeted Russel Arnold.

Little did he know that his optimism could see him getting brutally trolled on the social media. The fans made the most out of the opportunity to come up with hilarious replies to Arnold’s tweet. Well, Arnold would definitely now hope that the Sri Lankan team prove the trolling people wrong.

Here is how Russell Arnold got trolled by the Twitterverse:
