Sarah Taylor thinks Gilchrist calling her the best keeper is 'absolutely ridiculous'

With the likes of MS Dhoni and Jos Buttler making a lot of noise with their glovework when Australian great Adam Gilchrist was asked to name the best keeper in the world, he had little doubts in naming Sarah Taylor. The England women’s team wicketkeeper has been a standout name as far as the female keepers are concerned but with Gilchrist’s stamp, she will now be regarded as the best in international cricket on the whole.

Sarah was rather surprised when she got to know about this. She said that she had absolutely no idea he said that but also admitted that she has been working really hard on her skills behind the wickets. The English cricketer termed that it sounds absolutely ridiculous but coming from someone like Gilchrist she will take it.

Taylor reacts

“I had absolutely no idea about that! I’ve been working so hard on my keeping. [Former Hampshire wicketkeeper] Michael Bates has been brilliant for me in terms of everything he’s done for my keeping. I’ll take that – it’s absolutely ridiculous – but I’ll take it,” Taylor was quoted as saying by BBC.

While most in the current generation idolize Gilly as their keeping idol he thinks Sarah has been one to watch out for over the years in English cricket and now in the Big Bash League as well. He said that with social media now we get to see videos of her fine work.

“I tweeted, no longer than a week ago, that she is the best wicketkeeper in the world at the moment – male or female,” Gilchrist told BBC Test Match Special. “She’s done some work over the years in the Big Bash in Australia and with social media now you can see these little snippets.”

Talking about women’s cricket and how things have evolved over the years Taylor further said, “We’re fitter and stronger than we’ve ever been.”
