Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar recently took to Twitter to talk about the World T20 for blind cricketers. The tournament is slated to be held in India next year. The 2018 edition of the same tournament will take place in the UAE. UAE is the adopted home for the Pakistan national team for a long time now. With Pakistan getting the hosting rights for World T20 2018 for blind, Akhtar looked very emotional in his series of tweets.

Shoaib Akhtar said the opportunity for Pakistan at ‘home’ is a great one. “Happy to note that 2018 T20 WC for my visually challenged brothers could be hosted by Pakistan, albeit in Dubai,” Shoaib Akhtar tweeted. Akhtar looked visibly happy about the prospect. He followed up the tweet with two more tweets on the same.

Since the attack on Sri Lankan team in 2009, no team has toured Pakistan for an international series. The Zimbabwean team were the only exception when they toured Pakistan last year for ODIs and T20Is. The UAE has served as the home ground for Pakistan national team since then.

Akhtar mentioned that he hopes the ICC will change it’s mind someday and cricket will return to Pakistan. “I’d have loved to see T20 WC for visually challenged being played in my Pakistan. Hopefully, there is a change of mind in the year 2018,” he tweeted.

Shoaib Akhtar also mentioned that he hopes to see the Pakistan team participate in the 2017 edition of the blind World t20. The political tensions between India and Pakistan have been on the rise since a long time now. No wonder, both teams are not playing each other in the bilateral series.

A very emotional Akhtar is hopeful that Pakistan gets a chance to feature in the event. India are the hosts of the World T20 for blind to be held in 2017. He hopes that those who have eyes must see the event with their hearts too. And let Pakistan be a part of the tournament. He tweeted, “Hope those who have eyes have heart too that beats for those who can’t see.”
