Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has lashed out at the team after their humiliating loss against Australia in the ODI series. Pakistan had a humiliating 1-4 loss against the Aussies in the ODI series for which they were criticized widely. The former fast bowler was quoted by PakPassion saying that this should be a wake-up call and the selectors should make some tough decisions in future.

The speedster stressed on appointing the right man for the job. He also raised questions regarding the lack of depth in the middle order and asked tossed up the quiz between Sarfaraz Khan and Babar Azam as the next captain.

“First let us see if the people appointing the captain is visionary himself. Appointing a captain is an art itself. Why is it that in the last 5 years we don’t have a proper middle order or a good captain? Can Babar Azam be that captain for Pakistan? Sarfraz has been playing FC for last 10 years, he was playing in my times, he isn’t a fresh face.” Akhtar said.

“We have had a tradition of captains who have played for themselves and created groups/tribes for themselves from which teams are made, we have never had a leader” he added.

With 247 ODI wickets to his name, Akhtar took a pot-shot at the batsmen who did well, playing at Abu Dhabi by saying that if legendary all-rounder Wasim Akram had played at UAE, he would have registered 20-plus centuries.

The temperamental Pakistani didn’t even spare the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), as he went on say that the PCB makes disastrous policies and there is a lot of politics under the mat.

According to ESPNcricinfo’s report, Azhar Ali may soon lose his ODI captaincy as the PCB is likely to replace him with T20I skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed in the coming time.
