We live in a judgmental society. Judging someone based on their religion and clothes they were in not completely new, especially as far as women are concerned. For the ones who think that being popular personality helps you escape from the hare-brained people from spitting crap about you based on their so called values and culture, then you may be wrong.

With the increasing use of social media, it has become possible for anyone to criticise and create an outrage over trivial issues. Purdah of women is the worst of them. The new victim of this kind of outrage, which holds no importance, is Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who after posting a picture with his wife Hasin Jahan on Facebook had to face a social media lashing.

Within seconds of posting the image, Facebook users posted derogatory comments and criticised him for uploading an image with his wife without hijab and for not ‘covering’ her properly.

People posted comments like, “sharam karo sar aap ek muslim ho bibi ko parde me rakho” (Be ashamed Sir, you’re a Muslim and you should keep your wife behind curtains). One stupid even went to an extent of calling his wife ‘cute’ while preaching the cricketer that he should stop her wife from following western culture. Well, this obviously serves as an example of the two-faced nature of the these people who have no job other than to poke the nose into others life, especially cricketers and celebrities who an be easily targeted.

The fast bowler was in news recently after being left out of the England ODI squad. The fear of injury again popped up in the mind of the fans but later it was revealed that he was dropped with the him of giving him some rest before the home series against Australia which begins in February 2017.
