Australia and India will square off in the much-awaited 2023 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final at The Oval in London from June 7. This will be Australia's first WTC final, while India's second consecutive appearance.
With only a couple of days until the marquee event, the International Cricket Council (ICC) engaged Team Australia in a fun game in which the players were asked to name the worst gift they would like to give their star batter Steve Smith. Notably, the majority of the players came up with an answer which was related to Smith's batting.
ICC took to Instagram and shared the Australian players' comments and captioned it, "The Aussie boys know what would ruin Steve Smith's heart."
"Tell him training is cancelled or he is not allowed to bat," captain Pat Cummins said in the video.
"I feel like it's going to be said a lot, no batting for a week," said all-rounder Mitchell Marsh.
"Get him something from Kmart," Marnus Labuschagne said.
"No batting for a day," said Matthew Renshaw.
"You're probably right, if he wasn't allowed to hit balls today, he would have a bad birthday," Starc agreed with his fellow teammates.
"Probably a day off cricket training," said Scott Boland.
Smith was then questioned about the teammate who could give him the worst present to which the 34-year-old replied that Labuschagne would be the one to give.
"Probably, Marnus, he would get me something stupid I reckon," said Smith.
