With the completion of the inaugural Women's Premier League auction, each franchise roped in their share of talented players from around the world. From India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur to Australian great Ellyse Perry, many cricketers will be looking forward to showcasing their talent on the biggest stage once the event kick-starts.

Amon some of the proven performers that surprisingly went unsold at the auction included English opener Danni Wyatt. To the surprise of many, Wyatt carries with her a vast amount of experience. The 31-year-old has 2276 runs in 140 T20I matches, and she would have been an asset to any team. Wyatt admitted to feeling heartbroken after going unsold at the auction.

The 31-year-old took to Twitter to express her disappointment on the matter; she tweeted, "Dreamt of playing in the WPL. Heartbroken. Congrats to all who got picked up. India is a wonderful place to play cricket."

Royal Challengers Bangalore broke the bank at the 2023 WPL auction

One of the most popular sides in Indian Premier League history, Royal Challengers Bangalore, went all out at the WPL auction, which was held on Monday, February 13. They roped in ace Indian batter Smriti Mandhana for a whopping INR 3.40 crore. They also brought in Ellyse Perry, Sophie Devine, Heather Knight, and Richa Ghosh to further strengthen their squad.

Bangalore seems to have one of the strongest squads going into the inaugural edition of the WPL. India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was roped in by the Mumbai Indians, and they also brought in Nat Sciver-Brunt to their team.

Delhi Capitals were one of the teams who played their cards very strategically. Despite getting a slow start to the auction, the Delhi-based franchise brought in 22-year-old Jemimah Rodrigues, Meg Lanning, and the captain of the U19 Indian team who led the side to U19 World Cup glory recently, Shafali Verma.

Australian wicketkeeper batter Alyssa Healy was roped in by the UP Warriorz; they also brought in Shabnim Ismail, Devika Vaidya, and Sophie Ecclestone.
