'I'm recovering well' - Naseem Shah shares update on his health after undergoing shoulder surgery

Star Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah has provided an update on his health following shoulder surgery on Wednesday, October 4. The youngster sustained a shoulder injury during the rain-marred clash between Pakistan and India in the Asia Cup 2023, last month. 

The initial medical examinations indicated a muscle injury in the shoulder part, unrelated to any prior problems. Surgery was required to treat the injuries, and it was successful. Following surgery, the cricketer has been instructed to rest for four to six weeks before beginning a slow recovery process.

He will be sidelined from the much-awaited ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 which will begin from October 5. Pakistan will face off against the Netherlands in the second game of the competition on October 6 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Naseem took to 'X' and shared a video after surgery. "Alhamdulillah, I'm recovering well. Your prayers and well wishes have been my strength. Thank you all for your support," the 20-year-old wrote.

Naseem Shah had sustained severe Shoulder injury during Asia Cup 2023 game against India 

Naseem Shah had to leave the field in the 46th over of the Super Four match between India and Pakistan in Colombo, in Sri Lanka, owing to a shoulder injury. The youngster withdrew from the Asia Cup as well as the World Cup after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the seriousness of the injury. Notably, Hassan Ali took over in replacement of the 20-year-old.

Speaking about the game, India posted a massive 356 runs after being asked to bat first, thanks to centuries from KL Rahul and Virat Kohli. Later, veteran spinner Kuldeep Yadav took five wickets to help India restrict Pakistan to 128 runs in 32 overs.

Pakistan are heading into the World Cup after a defeat against New Zealand and Australia, respectively, in the warm-up games. The Babar Azam-led team likewise had a miserable campaign at the Asia Cup, losing to co-host Sri Lanka and India in the Super Four round to be eliminated.
