The series which was termed as a tussle of cricket maniacs, India showcased their resilience despite facing adversity on multiple fronts. Absent key players like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Ravindra Jadeja for a Test, India also coped with injury scares to vital performers. The absence of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj added to the challenge. Despite losing the initial Test from a dominant position, India responded emphatically, thereby securing a remarkable 4-1 series victory.

In the fifth Test, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill flourished on a favourable batting track. At the same time, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal, and Sarfaraz Khan added their own flair to India's commanding lead. On Day 3, England swiftly dismissed India's final two wickets within four overs. The hosts, hardly breaking a sweat, sealed the inevitable victory. With a blend of skill and determination, India surged ahead, leaving their opponents struggling to match their prowess on the field.

England showed glimpses of fightback but fell apart consistently

In a gripping display, Kuldeep Yadav claimed a fifer in the first innings, while Ravichandran Ashwin marked his 100th Test with a five-for in the second. Despite early setbacks and the absence of key players, India dominated England in a comprehensive victory. The series sweep reflected India's resilience and skill, overcoming initial challenges to secure a 4-1 triumph. While some argue the teams were closely matched, England's missed opportunities couldn't alter the decisive narrative of India's triumph in the Test series.

Aside from Joe Root's resilient 84-run innings, England's batting lineup faltered, with no other player crossing the 40-run mark. Despite playing his 100th Test, Jonny Bairstow couldn't capitalize on his start. However, James Anderson found cause for celebration, becoming the first pacer and England cricketer to reach 700 Test wickets. Nevertheless, England's lone victory couldn't offset their series loss, as they succumbed to an innings defeat by 64 runs in the Dharamsala fixture, concluding their India tour with just one win in the five-match series.
