Invited to bat first, Lucknow Super Giants posted 235/2 in the first innings of Match 64 of IPL 2025 against Gujarat Titans, being played at the picturesque Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

GT failed to take any wickets inside the powerplay, as Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh combined to add 53 by the end of the powerplay. R Sai Kishore broke through to secure the wicket of Markram (36 off 24) on the penultimate delivery of the tenth over.

Rashid Khan was introduced in the 12th over of the innings, and saw his first over was dispatched for 25 runs by Marsh. The platform was set to go all guns blazing as the visitors raced to 160 at the end of 15 overs. Mohammed Siraj, who conceded only 17 in his first three overs, gave away 20 in his final one.

Marsh brought up his maiden IPL ton in the 17th over, getting to the landmark off his 56th delivery. Meanwhile, Nicholas Pooran brought up his fifth fifty of IPL 2025 in the subsequent over. Pooran ended up unbeaten on 56 off 27 deliveries. Siraj proved to be the only bowler to concede at a rate less than 10.

"Nice to continue after the last game, bodes well for us as a group. I tried to take my time, respect the conditions and then get going. (On the IPL break) That break did me good, but it is what it is, it is good for players to get a few days off. Nice to see the cricket back and the fans back here supporting us," Pooran told on air after the end of the first innings.

"(On his dip in form) It happened unfortunately, I wasn’t up to the standards, but everyone goes through patches. I’ve accepted that and just want to continue to make the most of the opportunities, and accept certain failures. (On the target) It is a good wicket, we need to find the right lengths. Hopefully, our bowlers can find the right lengths and give us some happy moments as well," he ended.
