The 2022 champions, Gujarat Titans (GT), are taking on the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. SRH skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bowl first.

GT’s top order started their mayhem from the very first over. The left-handed batter Sai Sudharsan got things going with an aggressive start by smashing four boundaries off Mohammed Shami’s over. The Tamil Nadu-born cricketer scored 48 off just 23 deliveries, which included nine fours.

The GT skipper, Shubman Gill, on the other played the anchor role initially before firing up. The opening pair stitched together an 87-run partnership off just 41 balls. After Sudharsan's dismissal, Gill joined the crease with England's Jos Buttler, and the two continued the onslaught with another solid partnership.

The Indian batter was eventually run out after a mix-up that led to some confusion between him and the umpires. He walked back after scoring an impressive 76 off 38 balls, which included 10 boundaries and two sixes. The former England skipper took charge towards the latter part of the innings by finishing with 64 off 37 balls to help GT post a commanding total of 224 in 20 overs.

For SRH, Jaydev Unadkat claimed three wickets in the final over. The SRH skipper and Zeeshan Ansari also chipped in with one wicket each.

Meanwhile, SRH need to win this match to stay in the playoffs contention, whereas GT will aim to win the match in front of their home crowd and get closer to a spot in the playoffs.
