Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won a thriller against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by just 2 runs in the 52nd match of the IPL 2025 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The home side claimed their second consecutive win at home and fourth consecutive win overall. Timely clutch performances from the batters and bowlers helped them hold on to their nerves and claim a win, to qualify for the playoffs.

CSK won the toss and opted to bowl first on a tacky surface. The RCB batters went bonkers at the top and destroyed the CSK bowlers in the Powerplay overs. Both Jacob Bethell and Virat Kohli faced 33 balls and scored 55 and 62 runs, respectively. From 97/1 after 9.5 overs, RCB fell to 157/5 after 18 overs due to poor batting from Rajat Patidar, Jitesh Sharma, and Devdutt Padikkal.

That's when Romario Shepherd played an astonishing knock, out of nowhere. The power hitter smashed a 14-ball 53, the second fastest fifty in IPL history. For CSK, Pathirana claimed 3 wickets. Chasing 214, CSK got a good start. Ayush Mhatre and Ravindra Jadeja played fine knocks despite the dismissals of Shaik Rasheed and Sam Curran at the other end.

Mhatre played a great knock and scored 94(48). Jadeja remained unbeaten with a score of 77*(45). Unfortunately, RCB's death bowling meant they sealed a thrilling 2-run win. Lungi Ngidi was the pick of the bowlers for RCB with his 3/30. RCB qualified for the playoffs with the win, while CSK remained at the bottom of the points table.
