ZEE Media's exclusive sting operation on BCCI chief selector Chetan Sharma has sent shockwaves in the country as the former India cricketer revealed the behind-the-scenes events of the infamous fallout between former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli. The incumbent selector also made a startling revelation, stating he is in constant contact with Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and several of his teammates.
While the incumbent Indian selector shed light on the infamous spat between Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli, he made a bold remark suggesting that the panel of selectors 'run the cricket in India'. He also claimed to be constantly in touch with India's all-format skipper Rohit Sharma, who apparently spends 30 minutes on the call with the chief selector.
Sharma also claimed that the Indian players trust him to the core and were recently visited by several star first-team players, including, Hardik Pandya, Umesh Yadav, and Deepak Hooda at his house. The former cricketer's remarks on the fitness issues of the Indian players also turned a few heads as he claimed that several Indian cricketers consult private doctors and declare themselves fit for selection ahead of major tournaments.
He alleged that several Indian players, who remain unnamed, take 'fake injections', which are provided by the private doctors. He claimed that it is a sort of pain-killer which is not detected by the anti-doping agencies, raising the controversial topic of doping in the Indian squad.
Chetan Sharma said, "we 5 people (selectors) run the Cricket in India. We decide the present and future. Rohit Sharma talks with me for 30 minutes on phone. Hardik, Umesh and Deepak Hooda visited my house recently. They trust me". (On Zee).
