India took on Zimbabwe in the fourth T20I at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on July 13. India won the toss and opted to bowl first. Wessly Madhevere and Tadiwanashe Marumani did not throw their wickets but also failed to score at a decent pace. The duo put up 63 run stand for the first wickets in 8.4 overs. While Madhevere contributed 25 runs, Marumani walked back after scoring 32 runs. Brian Benett struggled with his 9 off 14 and Jonathan Campbell fell victim to Ravi Bishnoi’s direct hit, scoring just three runs.

Zimbabwe skipper, Sikandar Raza played a brisk inning as Zimbabwe were staring at a meagre total. He scored 46 runs off just 28 deliveries with two boundaries and three maximums. Dion Myers and Clive Madande were of no support to Raza’s aggressive approach as the duo departed scoring 12 and seven respectively. Zimbabwe huffed and puffed their way to 152 losing seven wickets in the course.

While chasing, India never seemed bothered as the hosts failed to ask tough questions to the young batting sensations, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill. The duo capitalised on the powerplay, with Jaiswal scoring four boundaries in the second over of the chase. They fetched 61 runs in the powerplay and never looked back again. Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 93 off just 53 and Gill contributed with an unbeaten 58 off 39 as India won the game in just 15.1 overs and by 10 wickets.

“I really enjoyed my batting today. I had my plans for different bowlers. The ball was coming on when it was new and as it got old, it was quite slow. I enjoyed batting with Shubman,” said Jaiswal after being awarded the Player of the Match.
