Indian skipper Virat Kohli has stamped his authority in the list of modern day masters of the game with a thundering ton in Cape Town against South Africa. Albeit the knock was not the most fluent that he has hit, but it was a knock of some serious substance. No wonder why veteran Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has called Kohli to be a player of a different level altogether.

Harbhajan has rightly mentioned that Kohli is indeed the run machine in modern day cricket. The Indian captain notched his second century of the six-match ODI series against South Africa. Playing in the third game of the series, Kohli took India over the 300-run mark with his knock. He scored an unbeaten 160 off 159 deliveries with 12 fours and a six.

Interestingly, this was the first instance in his ODI career when he stayed at the crease and faced over a 150-deliveries. His previous best in this regard was his knock of 183 against Pakistan that had come off 140 deliveries almost half a decade ago. Also, the ton was his 34th ton in the ODIs. Virat Kohli is only next to Sachin Tendulkar in the list of cricketers with most tons in the 50 over format of the game.

Among the various other records that he breached en route his captain’s knock, Kohli became the first Indian cricketer to score 12 ODI centuries as the captain of the team. Kohli’s spectacular show with the bat deserves a lot of credit. Albeit the track at Newlands was suited for batting early on in the innings, it did deteriorate as the time progressed. Despite the difficulies, the Indian captain hung on for 49 overs at the crease.

His knock fetched him praises from all corners. Enland Women cricketer Danielle Wyatt could not believe the fact that Kohli mustered another ton. Meanwhile, his wife, Anushka Sharam drooled over the spectacular knock played by Kohli. And now, even Harbhajan Singh has hailed Kohli as a player of different level altogether.

Here is what Harbhajan Singh tweeted:

“Run machine @imVkohli kya baat hai Teri, yeh bandha alag level ka player hai @BCCI #IndvsSAm,” Harbhajan Singh wrote in his tweet for Virat Kohli.
