New Zealand has won the first ODI match against Australia which was played at Eden Park by 159 runs and started this last series of their captain named Brendon McCullum on a winning note. Australia won the toss and gave New Zealand a chance to bat first and both openers made most of that opportunity provided by Steven Smith and scored runs freely and due to help of Martin Guptill, Brendon McCullum and Henry Nicholas, New Zealand put up a total of 307 runs in 50 overs.
While chasing this total, Australia lost their six wickets inside 10 overs and this was the first time since 2002, they lost six wickets inside 10 overs but after that Wade and Faulkner added 79 runs but that did not help Australia that much and with the help of Trent Boult and Matt Henry, New Zealand won the first ODI match easily inside 25 overs.
