The game of cricket has witnessed a gradual change over the years. The massive run chases at skyscraper like run-rates have left the batsmen with no option but to move out of their shells and try things out of the box to get the ball past the fielders and across to the stands. Scoring a double century is one of the most glorious feats that a batsman can achieve in his career. While there are some great cricketers who were unable to achieve this feat throughout their careers, there are players who have hit double tons across different formats of the game.

It has been almost 59 years since Sir Don Bradman played his last test match in 1948 against England but his many records are still a challenge for cricketers. His tally of 12 double hundreds is still the highest by any player at international level.

However, with sixth double hundreds, Indian skipper Virat Kohli is the fourth fastest to reach the landmark behind Sunil Gavaskar (95), Virender Sehwag (99) and Sachin Tendulkar (103). Kohli looks to be on a run-spree. Just a day after becoming the first captain to register a hat-trick of centuries in three consecutive matches, the Indian skipper scaled his latest milestone. Kohli scored his sixth double century, the highest as a captain in the final Test of the ongoing India vs Sri Lanka series. He overtook West Indies great Brian Lara, who held the record previously with five double tons in Tests.

11th Indian batsman to achieve the milestone, the dynamic right-hander tied with Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag for the most 200-plus scores for India in Tests. While Tendulkar had six double centuries, Sehwag had recorded four double and two triple hundreds. Among the current crop of players, Kohli is the joint second fastest to the milestone along with England skipper Joe Root.
