Delhi keeper batsman, Rishabh Pant continued his record breaching form as he blazed through a 48-ball century against Jharkhand at St’Xavier’s KCA Cricket Ground, Trivandrum during the 5th round game of Ranji Trophy. With this innings, Rishabh Pant has broken the record for the fastest century in terms of balls by an Indian in first-class cricket as well as minutes taken.
The record for fastest FC ton in terms of balls taken by an Indian is previously held by Yusuf Pathan who completed his ton in 51 balls for West Zone against Central Zone on January 26th, 2008 at Rajkot. While the previous fastest century in terms of balls in Ranji Trophy was by RK Borah of Assam who completed his century in 56 balls against Tripura in February 1988.
In terms of minutes, the fastest first-class ton by an Indian and the fastest century in Ranji Trophy are on the name of Shakti Singh, who reached his ton in just 59 minutes while playing for Himachal Pradesh against Haryana at Dharamsala in November 1990.
