Today’s innings of DArcy Short was a classic example of a stupendous knock. Batting first, the Hobart Hurricanes were reduced to 14/1. However, opener DArcy displayed tremendous valour with the bat. Hailing from Katherine, the 27-year-old slammed the first century of this year’s Big Bash League.

Wickets kept falling at one end, but that didn’t bother D’Arcy as he went about playing his shots. It was a one-man show for the Hobart Hurricanes as D’Arcy stood out with a fantastic hundred. Slamming 8 sixes and 8 boundaries, the left-hander scored an astounding 122 runs from just 69 balls.
His strike rate was a staggering 176.8. The bowlers were taken to the cleaners as Hobart Hurricanes managed to put up a total of 179/4 on the board, within their quota of 20 overs. The Brisbane Heat fell short by runs as he D’Arcy was deservingly rewarded the man of the match.

As D’Arcy Short slammed a magnificent century, he went past a couple of records. The left-handed batsman went on to register the highest score in the history of Big Bash League. During the course of his innings, he pipped Luke Wright’s highest individual score of 117(60). He held the previous record for 6 years.
Last year, Benn McDermott came really close to breaking that record. During his whirlwind innings of 114 runs from just 52 balls, he fell short of it by just 3 runs.
