Indian Women set a few batting records in Women’s ODI cricket at the Potchefstroom with some exemplary batting by the opening duo Deepti Sharma and Poonam Raut against Ireland. The pair recorded the first ever triple century stand in Women’s ODI cricket with Deepti amassing 188 and missed out closely on becoming only the 2nd batswoman with a double hundred in the format. In due course, the Indian eves recorded their highest ODI total as well.

Here we look at all the records broken and created during the Indian innings:

2 – Poonam Raut became only the 2nd woman to be dismissed “retired out” in the Women’s International cricket. Sri Lanka’s Dilani Manodara retired out in an ODI vs West Indies in 2008. Even in Men’s cricket, only two such occasions were recorded with both of them coming in a Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Test in 2001 with Marvan Atappatu and Sanath Jayawardene being the players to record this unusual dismissal.

3 – Poonam Raut has been a part of Indian Women’s highest partnership for any wicket in all the three formats. Poonam was a part of the 275-run stand for the second wicket against South Africa in a Test in 2014 and a 130-run opening stand vs Bangladesh in a T20I in 2013. Both of those record stands were with M Thirushkamini.

14 – Number of instances of two batswomen scoring centuries in the same innings in Women’s ODI cricket, 8 of them are by openers including this game. This is the 2nd such instance for India with the first one also coming against Ireland in 1999 when Reshma Gandhi and Mithali Raj scored hundreds.

19y 264d – Age of Deepti Sharma coming into this game. Her score of 188 is the highest individual score by any player in ODI cricket (Men’s and Women’s) before turning 20. Overall, her 188 is the 3rd highest score by any player in International cricket before turning 20 behind Mithali Raj’s 214 (Women’s Test) and Javed Miandad’s 206 (Men’s Test).

27 – Number of boundary fours Deepti Sharma hit during her innings, the most by any Woman in an ODI innings. New Zealand’s Rachel Priest hit 23 fours against Sri Lanka in 2015 during her 157-run knock.

188 – Deepti Sharma’s 188 is the 2nd highest score in Women’s ODIs and the highest by any Indian Woman. Highest individual score in Women’s ODIs is 229* by Belinda Clark for Australia vs Denmark in 1997. Previous highest for India was 138* by Jaya Sharma vs Pakistan in 2005.

188 – 188 by Deepti Sharma in this game is her maiden ODI century. This is also the highest maiden ODI century in Women’s cricket. Previous highest maiden century in Women’s ODIs was 156* by Australia’s Lisa Keightley vs Pakistan in 1997.

320 – Deepti Sharma and Poonam Raut’s opening partnership of 320 runs is the highest for any wicket in Women’s ODI cricket. Previous highest was 268 by SJ Taylor and CMG Atkins for England in 2008 against South Africa. Previous highest for India was 258* by Reshma Gandhi and Mithali Raj in 1999 also against Ireland.

320 – The 320-run stand between Deepti Sharma and Poonam Raut is the highest opening partnership in ODI cricket (Men’s and Women’s). Overall, this is only the 4th triple century stand in ODI cricket with three of them coming in Men’s cricket.

358/3 – Indian Women’s team’s total of 358/3 is their highest ODI total and the 10th highest in Women’s ODI cricket. The previous highest total of India Women’s was 298/2 vs West Indies in 2004.
