One of the most successful sides of the Indian Premier League, MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings have suffered major blows before the commencement of much-awaited IPL 2020. The entire cricket fraternity was left stunned after 13 CSK members were tested COVID-19 positive.
The 13 members also included CSK’s premier pacer Deepak Chahar. Along with Chahar, youngster Ruturaj Gaikwad has also reportedly contracted the virus. To add to CSK’s woes, vice-captain Suresh Raina also pulled out of the tournament and returned back home to India. He reportedly decided to back out after witnessing the current situation in the CSK camp.
The Chennai franchise has suffered major setbacks ahead of the IPL 2020 journey. Chahar, the right-arm pacer, is currently in isolation along with the members who have tested COVID-19 positive. The players of at least four franchises have kicked off preparations for IPL 2020 after completing the isolation period but CSK will now have to wait for a while before flagging off their training sessions.
Deepak Chahar had picked 22 wickets in last IPL season
Chahar, meanwhile, has been receiving many wishes on social media. Many fans including ardent CSK supporters wished the pacer a speedy recovery. Chahar’s brother Rahul, who is currently associated with Mumbai Indians, also wished and prayed for his speedy recovery.
“Stay strong brother. hoping for your speedy recovery and all my prayers for you get well soon @deepak_chahar9,” wrote Rahul along with sharing Deepak’s picture. Rahul, the 21-year-old leg-spinner, has also travelled to UAE and will be seen in action for Mumbai Indians in the cash-rich league.
