England veteran pacer Stuart Broad registered an unwanted record to his name after he went on to bowl the most expensive over in the history of Test cricket, conceding 35 runs. With that over, Broad became the English bowler to concede most runs in an over in both Tests and T20Is.

The right-arm pacer was taken to cleaners by Indian skipper Jasprit Bumrah as he smacked Broad for four fours and two maximums in an over. Broad did not help his cause either as he gave away six extra runs. The 36-year-old bowled a total of 18 overs in the first innings and could only manage to take one wicket after giving away 89 runs and bowling at an economy of almost five.

To note, Stuart Broad had received a similar kind of treatment from former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh during the 2007 T20 World Cup. The left-handed batter smashed Broad for six maximums in an over and helped his side to cross the 200-run mark during a group stage encounter in the tournament.

Broad gave away 60 runs in his four-over quota and did not get any wickets for his side as well.  Those six sixes in Broad’s over eventually were the difference between the two sides as India managed to win that encounter by 18 runs.

After receiving the beating from Yuvraj in 2007, Broad has improved himself as a bowler, particularly in the red-ball format. Talking about fast bowlers, Broad is currently the third-highest wicket-taker in Test matches behind Glenn McGrath and James Anderson, and sixth overall in the tally. However, he would not be happy with his bowling performance after conceding 35 runs that too against the tailender Jasprit Bumrah.

Talking about his numbers in Test cricket, Broad has played a total of 156 Test matches and has scalped 550 wickets at an average of 28.08. The 36-year-old also has 19 five-wicket hauls to his name in the longest format of the game.
