The Melbourne Renegades have added to their inventory of West Indian players after signing Sunil Narine for the upcoming season of the Big Bash League. Narine becomes only the second West Indian player to be recruited in the Renegade’s ranks for the upcoming season of the BBL. Speaking about the same, Narine went on to add that this was indeed a great opportunity and it was something he was looking forward to.

“This is a great opportunity for me and I’m looking forward to moving down to Melbourne for the BBL season,” Narine said.

“The BBL is growing bigger and bigger every year and attracts attention from around the world. The Renegades fans have a reputation for being loyal and loud and I’m ready to see what I can do at Etihad Stadium.

Sunil Narine was also pleased by the fact that he was joined by two of his trusted aides in the side in the form of Dwayne Bravo and Aaron Finch. “With my fellow countryman Dwayne Bravo, captain Aaron Finch and the rest of the guys, I’m hoping for a successful tournament,” Narine added.

Andrew McDonald, the coach of the Renegades also went on to state that he was pleased to have Narine on board.“I’m really pleased we’ve been able to get Sunil on board with us this season,” McDonald said.

“He has a lot of experience and has won the world’s toughest T20 tournament twice – those insights will be a huge benefit to the team in this campaign. He’s a proven wicket-taker and someone we know has the ability to stall momentum in our opposition. I’m looking forward to seeing him in action.

“It’s been a year and something that I’ve been going through this,” Narine told cricket.com.au during the Caribbean tri-series Australia eventually won.

“But I think all cricketers go through some stress in their career.

“This is mine and hopefully I can get over it and go from strength to strength.”
