Skipper Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga kept the Sri Lankan side alive. The two men put on a sensational partnership of 53 runs for the 6th wicket and gave a scare to Eoin Morgan and his men.  But in the end, the Sri Lankan outfit fell short of the target. Adil Rashid, Chris Jordan, and Moeen Ali picked up 2 wickets each for England with the ball, while the likes of Chris Woakes, and Liam Livingstone scalped a solitary willow wielder.

Jos Buttler’s century propels England to 163/4

The England side batted first and posted a total of 163/4 on the board. England was reduced to 35/3 and looked in all sorts of trouble. But then, Jos Buttler stepped up and pulverized the Sri Lankan bowling attack.

And, it was the sensational partnership of 112 runs between Buttler and Morgan that revived the England side. With the ball, Wanindu Hasaranga was outstanding. The right-arm spinner picked up 3 wickets in his 4-over spell and gave away just 21 runs.

Apart from Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera also picked up a solitary scalp as well. With this victory, England have consolidated their position at the top of the points table, while Sri Lanka are placed at the 4th spot.
