WPL 2024 Stats

After a successful inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League, the second edition beginning from Friday, February 23 promises to be another action-packed season of the T20 extravaganza. The first edition of the WPL saw several records being set as women cricketers from all across the globe put their magnificent cricketing skills on display making the event a grand success.

Numerous players registered respective ‘firsts’ in the inaugural edition etching their names with golden words in the WPL All Time Records. Mumbai Indians Captain Harmanpreet Kaur became the first player to score a half-century in WPL history with her magnificent innings of 65 (30) in the opening game against Gujarat Giants.

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals’ Tara Norris registered the first-ever five-wicket haul in the tournament during the second fixture against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Sophie Devine narrowly missed out on the first-ever hundred in WPL history as she got dismissed on 99 (36) during Match 16 against Gujarat Giants. Her score remains the highest individual score of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians’ Issy Wong picked the first hat trick of the tournament against UP Warriorz in the Eliminator fixture. With several star cricketers set to play in the second edition of the tournament, many records are set to be broken. There will likely be a change in many head-to-head records as well in the upcoming edition as many teams have revamped their squads in the auction.

The second of WPL promises to take the action several notches higher and fans can’t wait for the grand event to get underway.
