WPL 2023 Purple Cap

The much-awaited inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 kicked off on March 4 at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. A lot of top-notch bowlers from all-round the globe has signed up for the tournament and will be gunning to set the marquee tournament ablaze with their performances. Now, the one that will remain the most consistent throughout, will end up winning the prestigious Purple Cap award.

  

The coveted prize is given to the bowler who picks the most number of wickets in the tournament. It is hugely popular in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and is expected to be equally important for the women cricketers. Players like Renuka Singh, Megan Schutt, Sophie Ecclestone, Saika Ishaque and Shabnim Ismail among many others will be gunning to take the cap home and establish their authority in the marquee tournament.

  

Rules for WPL Purple Cap 

1. The Purple Cap is awarded to the leading wicket-taker of the WPL season.

2. The bowler with the most wickets in the tournament during the season is allowed to wear the Cap in the field.

3. In an event of a tie, the Purple Cap is awarded to the bowler with a better economy rate.
