Bangladesh batsman Tamim Iqbal had a narrow escape from a severe injury during Bangladesh’s 3-day practice match at Chittagong. Tamim was dismissed for 29 runs and was left frustrated. On his way back to the pavilion, the left hander made his frustrations public with a swing of his bat which struck a door. But the injury took place a few seconds, later when Tamim tried to make his way into the dressing room.

Details:

As Iqbal pushed the glass door in order to move in, the glass shattered completely into pieces. Tamim lost his balance in the procedure and fell right over the broken pieces of glass. Tamim got a cut on his stomach which resulted in blood loss. According to the local media, the injury could have been much more severe if Tamim Iqbal was without his cricketing gears such as the helmet and the pads.

Speaking about the issue, Tamim admitted that the glass door broke entirely as he pushed it. He also said that the condition of his pad will give everyone a hint of how serious the damage could have been. He considers himself lucky to have escaped any such caustic outcome.

“The moment I pushed on the door the glass broke entirely” said Tamim. “I fell to the ground as well and if anyone saw the state of my pads, they would know how dangerous the accident could have been.” added the batsman.

Tamim continued “Thanks to Allah that I got off from such a dangerous situation. The injury is nothing serious, I am just thankful since the situation could have been bad.”

“The injured area sometimes stretches the skin but it’s nothing serious,” Tamim said.

The three-day practice match is being played as a part of the preparations for the upcoming Australia series. Australia will play a two Test match series against Bangladesh which will start from 27th of August.
