Watch: The funniest cricket incident ever: Mark Richardson, the former New Zealand cricketer widely ridiculed as the “Snail man” owing to his indolent and slow running between the wickets once got involved in one of the funniest incidents that took place on the cricket field.

It was a Test match between India and New Zealand and the Kiwis were batting at 133 for 3. Ajit Agarkar was bowling and Mark Richardson took guard. It was a full length delivery by Agarkar and it was punched straight down the ground by Richardson for a majestic looking boundary.

But while running between the wickets before the ball had reached the fence, Richardson, thinking that the ball had reached the fence in a light mood seemingly checked his shot, but ended up catapulting the bat to some distance (the willow probably travelled some 15 yards!) which just fell before Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar who was making his way to his run up.

Richardson seemingly gestured with his hand as a signal of apology to the umpire Daryl Harper and the crowd and the commentators burst into laughter with everyone flashing their dentition at such a funny incident that unfolded. Even his partner at the other end Nathan Astle can’t stop laughing.

When one views the video clip over and over again they will surely come to a point where their stomach’s can’t take it any more. LOL. It is incidents like these that take boredom out of question even in Test matches and make fans keep their eyes fixed on every delivery bowled.
