4. IPL 2012 Eliminator

MI yet again failed to break the Playoffs jinx for a second successive year and just like 2010, it was CSK yet again who spoiled their party in the knockouts. Both sides locked horns in the Eliminator of the 2012 edition. Mumbai Indians won a crucial toss and elected to bowl first. The decision seemed to be spot on after Murali Vijay and Suresh Raina were sent back safely.
Michael Hussey scored an amazing 39-ball 49 and was involved in a 94-run stand with Subramaniam Badrinath (47) for the third-wicket stand. CSK looked down and out at 114/5 in the 16th over before skipper MS Dhoni turned out to be their saviour with an important knock of an unbeaten 51 runs from just 20 deliveries that propelled Chennai Super Kings to a challenging total of 187/5.
In reply, openers Sachin Tendulkar and Dwayne Smith added 47 runs for the opening stand before the former was dismissed. Smith followed soon and that arguably was the turning point for Mumbai as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The standout moment was that of Dwayne Bravo giving his West Indies teammate Kieron Pollard a hilarious sendoff after dismissing him. MI was eventually restricted to 149/9 as Chennai qualified for the next round with an emphatic 38-run win.
