England have named their 15-member squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, which is set to take place in Australia in October-November. Opening batter Jason Roy has failed to make the squad, owing to his recent struggles. He last played for the Three Lions in the recently-concluded white-ball series against South Africa at home.

In 2022, Roy has played 11 T20Is so far and scored 206 runs at an average of 18.72 and a strike rate of 104.04 with only one fifty. And his recent form of scoring 76 runs in the last six games, once again, does not make good reading for an England T20I top-order batter. And after facing the axe from the national team, Roy might be shown the way back to domestic cricket to earn his place once again in the national team.

Chris Woakes, Mark Wood to return from injuries

Opener Phil Salt, with a great The Hundred season with the bat under his belt, forced a spot for himself in the national squad for the mega event. Senior seamers Chris Woakes and Mark Wood have also been named in the squad who have been out of action lately due to injuries. They last played for England in March on the West Indies tour.

Jos Buttler’s men have gone with just one specialist spinner in Adil Rashid, with pacers Chris Jordan, Sam Curran, David Willey and Reece Topley. Pacers Tymal Mills and Richard Gleeson, along with all-rounder Liam Dawson are among the reserves for the ICC event.

England are in the same group as Afghanistan, Australia and New Zealand for Super 12. England will also have a pre-World Cup tour of Australia for three T20Is which will take place from October 9 to October 14. Their World Cup campaign will commence on October 22.
