It was a classic T20 encounter filled with spills and thrill as the Durban Super Giants prevailed in a nail-biting thriller in Durban to snap their four-match losing streak. The MI Cape Town nearly pulled the rabbit out of the hat despite being on the receiving end for much of the game.

It was the Quinton de Kock show in the second innings as the wicketkeeper-batter slew the MI Cape Town bowlers to ensure a healthy run rate for his side despite losing Ben McDermott cheaply. The explosive opener was looking to finish the game early after registering a quick-fire half-century.

However, the visitors were handed momentary respite after de Kock departed for 63 off 41 deliveries. Before Rashid Khan's side could even think of making a comeback in the contest, Keemo Paul blew them away with a scintillating cameo, scoring 31 off just 18 deliveries to bring his side to the cusp of victory.

But the visitors were handed a lifeline after Kagiso Rabada struck twice in one over to take the game down to the wire. Rabada bowled a superb penultimate over to send the match into the last over, but the young Matthew Breetzke held his nerve against Duan Jansen to see his side home in a last over thriller.

MI Cape Town finish on a high after Odean Smith and Delano Potgieter's assault

Earlier in the match, Quinton de Kock won the toss and elected to field first on a seemingly flat track at the Kingsmead in Durban. It was a brave call given the MI Cape Town's batting prowess at the top of the order. However, the South African ace's decision proved to be masterstroke after his bowlers sent both the openers packing inside the first six overs of the match.

George Linde also departed cheaply to further compound the misery for the visitors. That is when an in-form Rassie van der Dussen took center stage for Cape Town, the Proteas star steadied the ship along with the explosive Tim David with a brisk stand for the fourth wicket. Just when it looked like both batters will up the ante for their side, the home side dismissed the set batters in successive overs.

Rashid Khan's side were staring at a mediocre total on the board before Odean Smith and Delano Potgieter launched a scathing assault against the home side. The duo added 50 runs off just 26 deliveries to propel the visitors to a competitive score of 165 runs in their 20 overs.
