The wait is finally over for the Mumbai Indians fans as Arjun Tendulkar makes his much-awaited debut for the Mumbai-based franchise in their clash against two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede. Son of the iconic Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun, has been in impressive form in the domestic circuit and has finally got a chance to display his all-round abilities in the illustrious cash-rich league.
The 23-year-old all-rounder was part of the Mumbai Indians squad in IPL 2022, but never got a chance to represent the franchise in the competition. The Mumbai-borne cricketer rose to the limelight with his performance for Mumbai in the domestic circuit, which led to his signing in the IPL 2021 auction.
He made his T20 debut for Mumbai against Haryana in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match in 2021. However, he ditched Mumbai in favour of Goa ahead of the domestic season in 2022. His first-class debut came in 2022 when he represented Goa in a Ranji Trophy game against Rajasthan. The young cricketer smashed a glittering century on his FC debut.
There is a lot of expectation from the prodigious cricketer, not only because he is the son of the greatest Indian cricketer of all time, but also because he represents one of the strongest franchises in the Indian Premier League. He will make his debut for Mumbai Indians under the leadership of stand-in skipper Suryakumar Yadav as regular skipper Rohit Sharma was left out of the starting eleven due to a stomach issue.
