The T20 series kicked off with a bang at the Kanpur Stadium. England won the game by 7 wickets to gain an early edge in the series. Earlier in the day, it was captain Eoin Morgan who won the toss as the visitors elected to field first. While India made quite some changes coming into the T20 International format, with the likes of Suresh Raina, Manish Pandey, Ashish Nehra, Parvez Rasool and Yuzvendra Chahal making appearances. For England, Chris Jordan and Tymal Mills were the new faces.

India didn’t begin well as KL Rahul continued his poor form. Virat Kohli who opened the innings along with comeback man Suresh Raina looked stable. Just as it seemed India were doing good enough, Raina got out. Wickets kept tumbling one after the other as Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Pandey got out in quick succession. Hardik Pandya too failed to hit out. However, thanks to some late charge by MS Dhoni, India managed to finish off at 147/7 in their quota of 20 overs.

England, on the other hand, began in splendid fashion. Jason Roy and Sam Billings smashed boundaries at will to put India under pressure early. Chahal then struck twice in an over to send both openers back to the pavilion.

From there on Eoin Morgan and Joe Root played some sensible cricket as England went on to win the game quite comfortably in the penultimate over and gain a competitive edge over India in the series.

Twitter was quite entertained in the evening as they enjoyed some good cricketing action in the midst. While they sounded quite disappointed with the Indian batting approach, England played to their potential and displayed their valor. Moeen Ali was rewarded the man of the match for superb figures of 2/21.

Here are some of the amazing Twitter reactions that took place during the course of the game:
