David Warner is the form of his life in the ongoing Test series against Pakistan. He had some horrendous outings in the Ashes a few months ago where he got out to Stuart Broad a plenty of times. But he has been able to make amends versus Azhar Ali and Co. The left-hander started with a ton in the opening Test at The Gabba in Brisbane, helping his side win by an innings and five runs.

He made full use of the reprieve given to him by Naseem Shah, who got Warner caught off a no-ball. The New South Wales batsman has now unfolded mayhem in the opposition camp in the Day-Night Test at the Adelaide Oval. Australia lost Joe Burns early to pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, but Warner, along with Marnus Labuschagne, restored sanity back into the proceedings for the home team.

David Warner churns out a masterclass in Adelaide

To begin with, Warner and Labuschagne put on 361 for the second wicket and the duo played out the entire first day. Afridi broke the stand in the first session of Day 2, nipping out Labuschagne, who churned out back-to-back centuries to show his class. However, Warner carried on and kept piling on more agony for the Pakistan bowlers. When he was on 226, he got yet another lifeline to a no-ball.

Muhammad Musa found his outside-edge, but to no avail. In the post-Lunch session, Warner got to his triple century with a fierce pull shot off Mohammad Abbas. He became the seventh Australian to get to the landmark. Warner also surpassed Don Bradman’s tally of 299* for the highest individual Test score at the Adelaide Oval. After the ton, he jumped in delight and the crowd lauded the batter.

Gradually, he started to press the accelerator and was outdrawing anyone and everyone, who was stumbling on to his path. Warner was looking good enough to even topple Brian Lara’s 400. But against the run of play, Tim Paine, the Aussie skipper, decided to spring a massive surprise.

When Warner was going great guns on 335, Paine declared the Aussie innings. Australia were motoring along at 589/3 in 127 overs. Twitter was definitely not happy with Paine. The users on social media criticised Paine for declaring at a time when Warner could’ve gotten 400.

Here is how Twitterati lambasted Paine for the decision:-
