Indian skipper Virat Kohli was all pumped up during the second semi-final match of the Champions Trophy 2017 against Bangladesh at Edgbaston, soon after the left-handed Bangladesh opener, Soumya Sarkar was dismissed in the very first over. The expression on Virat’s face was the one of delight and ecstasy. The pumped up Indian skipper gave a mouthful to the departing batsman, with the Men in Blue blazing all guns.

Although, soon after the second wicket, Bangladesh began to build a partnership between the opener Tamim Iqbal and the former skipper Mushfiqur Rahman. India’s part-time offie Kedar Jadhav picked up the in-form Tamim Iqbal with a ball that did not spin as the opener played for the one that would leave him.

The offie was once again in the limelight when he picked up the wicket of Mushfiqur, who swatted the ball straight to the hands of the Indian skipper who had positioned himself in the short mid-wicket position to dismiss the right-handed batsman. Soon after the cheeky catch, Kohli was seen celebrating the wicket by sticking his tongue out in delight.

The skipper, however, was not aware that the expression would become a meme on social media. Kohli’s funny tongue-out face quickly became a Twitter favourite as people began to think of hilarious captions. In no time at all, the Kohli meme was born.

Twitter made sure that the expression would take the centre-stage with the users making the simple picture into humorous memes.

It was his day as the skipper’s decisions with bowling changes made a difference and later in the day when he walked out to bat scored a half century and ensured the team was well on course of an emphatic win in the semi-final.

Here are some of the funniest memes that came out soon after the dismissal of the right-handed Bangladeshi batsman.
