Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag is never short of witty, funny comments and jokes that bring smiles to the faces of his followers. Even after leaving the cricket field, he is his usual jocular self, be it on the micro-blogging platform Twitter, or inside the commentary box.
Shifting our focus from India’s cricket to India’s film industry, the second film of the Bahubali franchise minted an unprecedented 1000 crores across the country. It shattered every record that existed in terms of box office collections, and the frenzy it created in India is a testimony to its success. The film’s primary character Mahendra Bahubali was, of course, this towering man with a Herculean figure, whose feats of strength defied all odds.
Sehwag seems to think the film has some connection with the cricket. In particular, he reckoned World Cup winning captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was the Bahubali of the Indian Cricket Team.
MS Dhoni becomes Mahendra Bahubali
On Thursday, Sehwag dropped yet another bombshell while commentating for the India-Sri Lanka game in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy. He compared Dhoni with Mahendra Bahubali, the character played by actor Prabhas in the Telegu film.
His comparison was sparked by MS Dhoni’s whirlwind knock of 63 off 52 balls during the first innings. The wicketkeeper-batsman brought his experience into play, hitting seven fours and two sixes en route his 62nd ODI half-century.
Twitter erupted in reaction to Sehwag’s comparison, and fans poured in their praises for MSD.

Shikhar Dhawan‘s love affair the ICC CT
Meanwhile, Dhawan’s love affair with the ICC Champions Trophy continued as he scored a glorious hundred on Thursday. He smashed 125 off 128 balls and got to his 10th ODI hundred. Along with opener Rohit Sharma, he put on yet another 100-run partnership in this tournament. The duo scored 138 for the opening wicket, with Rohit Sharma cruising to a languid 78 off 79 balls.
Sri Lanka eventually scaled the target of 322, courtesy of some sensible batting from their top order batsmen. Their win essentially set up two virtual quarter-finals in Group B, which means all four teams are still in the contest.
