Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag might be his cheeky self on Twitter, but certainly not while applying for the job of head coach of Team India. Earlier, reports had surfaced all over the internet which suggested that Sehwag had submitted a two-line CV while applying for the job. However, Viru rubbished all such reports categorically.

He set the records straight by saying that he sent a CV which was fully compliant with the BCCI norms. The Board of Control for Cricket in India had invited applications from candidates for the next head coach of the Indian Cricket Team. The current coach Anil Kumble‘s contract has been extended till India’s tour of the West Indies, hence the new coach could be announced after India return from the Caribbean.

“I would be happy to get that two line CV from the media source. If I had to send a two line resume, my name was enough,” Sehwag said in an interview with ‘UCWeb’.

He then went on to share his experience with some of his former teammates in the Indian Cricket Team and heaped praises for the likes of Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar.

“Sourav taught me how to keep patience and is my all-time favourite Captain. On the other hand, Sachin gave me confidence, broke my superstitions and playing with him was like playing with the wall, you could play without any tension and hit boundaries freely,” he remarked.

Viru also shared that one of his favourite opponents on the cricket field was Pakistan speedster, Shoaib Akhtar. “Pakistan was that one team against which I always loved hitting boundaries, especially against Shoaib Akhtar who used to bowl at 150 km/h,” he said.

However, Sehwag refused to comment on the ongoing controversy with Rashid Latif. The former Pakistani cricketer had made disparaging remarks on Sehwag saying that the Indian cricketer was suffering from “piles of mouth”. Latif lashed out at Viru following the latter’s tweet ahead of the India-Pakistan Champions Trophy final.

“This eventually portrays Rashid Latif s character. I haven’t seen that video and neither do I want to. Whatever I had said was in good spirit and it should have been taken with a pinch of salt,” Sehwag said.
